This past week has been full of firsts! Introductions, first class, first book selections and first narrative writings- we've done it all! I hope you find this blog to be helpful to keep you informed and to answer questions about what we are doing in class.
This week we will start our first reading unit. To prepare for unit, students should have a FICTIONAL book selected to read. Many students already have chosen a book from my classroom library- which is great. If your child does not have a book or they have picked a non-fiction book, they will need to make another selection before Thursday.
Another project we are working on is our Literary Timeline. Students are creating an autobiographical literary timeline where they will share important books from their past. Much of this work will be happening in class. Each student will have an individualized due date where they will present their Literary Timeline in book talk form. Our first reading unit will center around understanding characters, setting and themes of the books we read. Visit this site weekly for updated information!!
